Phillip Alderman retired from the NHS at the end of 2020 after more than 38 years’ service, the last 27 years spent serving the people of Gwent as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Gwent Hospital. He continued in private practice until the end of June 2023. He was High Sheriff of Gwent in 2021-2022 and was formerly Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon to Newport RFC and Newport Gwent Dragons as well as a governor of Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools. He is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers and is President of the Welsh Orthopaedic Society for 2022 - 2024.
