Hands Around the World

Volunteers from Monmouth’s Hands Around the World ( HATW) were awarded the Queen’s Award for voluntary service which was first announced in June 2020 when the country was in lockdown.

On Friday 25 November, the Lord Lieutenant of Gwent Brigadier Robert Aitken was able to officially hand over the award.

Representatives from HATW were also unable to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace or celebrate in person and celebrations were also shelved in 2021. However, in May 2022, two of the volunteers Mike and Heidi, pictured below , were finally able to attend the garden party at Buckingham Palace.
