Chepstow History Festival

 

The Vice Lord - Lieutenant, Dame Claire Clancy, was delighted to open the Chepstow History Festival, on the 75th anniversary of the Chepstow Society. She was welcomed by their Chairman - Guy Hamilton, President - Keith James and Vice Chairman - John Burrows. Claire thanked the Chepstow Society for the work they have done for over 75 years which has helped the town to understand Chepstow’s history and appreciate the achievements of earlier generationsThe Society continues to educate, inspire and protect Chepstow’s heritage and the Chepstow History Festival was a prime example of the way they seek to bring history to life. Claire also expressed her thanks to all those people who volunteer locally and work tirelessly and selflessly to give their support to the community. Following time at the exhibition in the Drill Hall, Claire visited Castle Green to see the Guild 17th Century military encampment and a “Meet the Normans” re-enactment within Chepstow Castle.
